On the path towards autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems providing both comfort and safety functions experience increasing take-rates not only in premium vehicles. Those devices will not only work as alert systems, but also “piloting”, i.t. being able to automatically take actions without the driver’s attention (e.g. brake the car after detecting an obstacle). All those features depend on several surrounding sensors. Among others, Radar and Lidar sensors play significant roles here. Coatings can have some impact on the functionality of those sensoric systems but can be optimized in that regard.
